Take in the Hill Town Views
During your time in Etruria, you’ll be based in a charming hill town where the views are hard to beat. Take some time each day to simply relax and enjoy the scenery. Try to pick a different spot if you can—maybe get up early, grab a coffee, and drive somewhere nearby to watch the sunrise, or plan an evening picnic on one of the many overlooks. With so much beauty around you, it’ll be tempting to take photos but don’t forget that sometimes it’s good for your soul simply to take in the fresh air.
If you have plans for future trips, make note of some of the best places to visit and come back home with ideas for vacations years down the road!
If you’ve ever wanted to take a vacation that checks all the boxes, then it’s time to look into our Ultimate Italian Wellness Retreat. This comprehensive tour blends two days of exploration with three days of relaxation, giving you the best of both worlds during your time in Italy.
The six-day retreat begins with an overnight stay in Florence, where you’ll get to explore this historic city. After a walking tour and some free time to explore on your own, you’ll arrive in the hill town of San Gimignano. The following day, enjoy a walking tour of the town and its many attractions before checking into your hotel for a three-night stay. Over the next few days, you’re free to enjoy wellness treatments at the spa or indulge in other activities such as cooking classes and wine tasting.
On your final day, head out for a scenic drive through Chianti countryside before touring the city of Siena. You’ll also visit a local winery for lunch and a tasting before heading back to Florence for one last overnight stay. The retreat ends with another walking tour of Florence, followed by your return flight home.
This trip is ideal for those looking to experience both sides of Italian culture: walk through the bustling streets and explore the history.
As you’ll see from the photos below, this hill town is a quintessential Italian landscape. The park is nestled in the mountains, overlooking rolling hills and ancient olive groves. It’s a serene place to take a walk, sit and do some writing, or contemplate life while breathing in the fresh air.
The retreat also includes several local experiences that will enrich your trip. You’ll get to make traditional pasta at an authentic cooking school and then enjoy a delicious meal with a local family. You’ll also have time to wander through town, where you can try the local cuisine and shop for handcrafted souvenirs. A small town in the foothills of one of Italy’s most beautiful mountain ranges, a world-class spa, and a panoramic park are just a few things you can expect from this amazing destination. Let’s take a look!
Settled in the Tuscan hills and surrounded by natural hot springs, this little Italian hamlet offers breathtaking views of the countryside. The main buildings of Il Borro are located on the highest point of the property, which has been owned by the Ferragamo family since 1993. Its origin dates back to the year 1049 when it was a part of the Via Francigena, an important pilgrim route between France and Rome. Here you can see some views that will give you an idea of what to expect:
Hot springs have always been a source of healing for both body and mind. This destination is home to one of 8 natural hot spring sources in Tuscany—and it just so happens to be the only source that can be reached directly from your room!
The region is home to some incredible produce, making it a favorite stop for foodies. It’s also renowned for its award.
The town of Castiglion Fiorentino is a hilltop medieval village with sweeping views of the Tiber River Valley and the Apennine Mountains. The ancient town has buildings dating back to the Etruscan period, and its walls bear the marks of many conflicts throughout history. Now, it’s a quiet but bustling town in Umbria, just 30 minutes from Arezzo, 70 minutes from Siena, and 90 minutes from Florence.
I’ll be staying at a B&B right in the center of town called Ristorante da Ercole (which means “Restaurant by Hercules”). This will be my home base for the trip—the perfect location for exploring the city and returning home to a delicious meal every evening! We’ll also be able to enjoy wine tastings at local vineyards and trips through the countryside on our bikes.
